[:1]Hi folks, I am looking to go to the Renaissance Festival this year in Michigan and was hoping to go as something Mesmer inspired. Any suggestions for an Edwardian or Victorian influenced costume? Thanks in advanced.|||Anything you can sew yourself or borrow at a costume rental?
Male or female?
PS: Either way, accessories & layers is what makes a costume look great. So look for rings, necklaces, belts etc. Nothing is more Mesmer-ish than a mask. white, neutral masks that can be painted should not cost more than a few dollars. Just google venice & carnival and paint one yourself.|||I'd prefer to buy so that I can have it for future events, like Halloween or Band concerts. I am male. I know Etsy has something but I would like to shop around.|||I don't think there are a lot of cos-players here. So you might not have a lot of suggestions. Sorry.
Ren Faire is pretty fun though.|||Quote:

The amount of money you have to spend can rise with almost no limit, but there are some things you can usually recycle:
>> Boots (nothing destroys the impression as sneakers) - Riding boots (not cowboy boots!) can sometimes be borrowed
>> Pants - If you own some sort of black leather pants (just skip the biker ones with protective padding) you have a good base
>> Grandma's blouses - Seriously, we outfitted a whole cast of players at a theatre production at school with "ruffled attrocities"
I have no idea how many shops are fabricating stuff like that in the US, but perhaps the local outfitter of the Goth scene can help too ... just combine with colour |||http://www.museumreplicas.com/

None of these have anything specifically "mesmer-like" but you may be able to cobble something together. Fair warning- it won't be cheap. Also check eBay, you could turn up something interesting there.|||Thanks guys. I was looking over that Museum Replicas magazine with my girlfriend earlier this week, she is ordering some pieces from there I believe.|||Mesmer outfit would be soooo aweessoommee
